Sun, 18 October 2009 Healthy food is in… the junk food is out, but it's still fun! Seems like many are reading the labels and wising up to eating right while others ignore the warnings signs and ruin their bodies with the fad foods. This competing philosophy carries over into nearly every area of or life. When we worship, sometimes we jump to the fad issues of our own enjoyment or comfort and we create boundary lines and start arguments of culture and preference and all the while miss out on the healthy ingredients of God’s best. In this series, we’ll explore the Psalms as we examine the healthy components of Biblical worship. Some of it will be hard to enjoy, just like when mom made you eat your vegetables. But if you stick with it, you’ll find the health and freedom from being well balanced. Comments[0]

What’s your personal vibe?
At Sugar Hill Church, we want our Vibe to be “becoming like Jesus.” Nothing more, nothing less. Our process of discipleship centers around 3 words: love, grow, serve. In this series, you will be challenged to confront your personal Vibe to see how you are doing; not compared to the people around you… but compared to Jesus.Comments[0]

Tue, 12 May 2009 ![]() The fact that our culture makes such a big deal about valuing physical beauty greatly points to the fact that God placed the characteristic of beauty within us. Beauty is every woman’s gift. It is a gift from God, it is her gift to God and it is His gift to the world through her. A woman as God designed her, cannot be understood, appreciated or loved apart from beauty. It is the beauty within her that longs to be longed for and cherished. It transcends the desire to be attractive and pretty no matter how powerful the desire or how suppressed or denied it may be. Every dad needs to hear it and instill it in his daughters. Every husband needs to hear it and build it into his wife. Every boy needs to understand it and respect the beauty of a girl as a gift from God. Every girl needs to see herself in light of God’s truth. Every woman needs to hear the words from Scripture to know what love, respect, dignity, value and honor are all about. Every mom needs to model it and share it with her daughters. It’s a message of true beauty. God created woman. And when He did, He did so in His image and called her, Beautiful. Comments[0]

Mon, 9 March 2009 ![]() Missions is one of those church topics that tends to be reserved for the church member that is “really spiritual” or really involved or really “sold out”. Usually, when we think of missions we think of the Great Commission. For some people missions means adventure, excitement, energy, purpose. For others, missions means something boring, strange or for someone else besides me. Many of us remember Missions Conferences filled with slide shows and photos of 3rd world countries and starving, neglected people…and yes, those missions are still out there…and yes, we must have a broken heart for them…but we must have a heart for people in every circle of influence. We tend to rush to the end of the Great Commission or “the uttermost” while neglecting the nearest… which begins in our own heart. Comments[0]

Tue, 28 October 2008 ![]() On this day, I want to share my prayer for you over the next season of our journey together. Last month we began simplifying our process of discipleship. 1+1+1 Love, Grow, Serve. Participate in: One worship hour, One Growth Group, One place of service. The only reason we grow is out of a motivation of love. The only reason we serve is out of the motivation of love. Love, Grow, Serve! Romans 12:9-139Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Comments[0]
Mon, 20 October 2008 He's been called the man upstairs...the good Lord...and He's been asked to damn things...Why do people use His name so flippantly? Is the person of God - whatever you call him, a trivial being? Who is He really? Can He be understood? Can we really get to know Him? What does He have to do with our everday lives? There are times in our lives when all of us struggle with these issues. Where is God? Does he notice or care? How could God allow such things to happen? That's why we are doing this series, The Biography of God. It is our prayer that you will get to know God through this series. If we get to know Him as He is, we'll be better equipped to face the challenges of this life. He's the creator of all. He knows it all. Knowing God provides security when everything around us is uncertain. Your financial position may be uncertain in this economy. Your marriage may be on shaky ground. Your children may be headed for danger. Your job may be in jeopardy. No matter what, knowing God can give you peace and security in this life and for all of eternity. Mon, 29 September 2008 ![]() Church is about relationships. It’s a family. Dysfunctional families don’t talk about things. Healthy families do. This church is made up of real people growing to love the real God. Let’s face it – church is not a business – it’s about people. And yet there is a certain necessary part of church that is a business. The harsh reality is the church can’t run with deficit spending. We have to be responsible. We have to be wise stewards of all that we’ve been given. How we use our time, our human, physical and financial resources. Just as we have to live w/in our means as families – we have to do the same at church. Comments[0]
Comments[0]
Tue, 23 September 2008 ![]() The Family Church begins a new chapter in our church development. We are attempting something a little out of the box as we attempt to reach this region with the love and hope of Jesus Christ. It's a development process for spiritual growth. It's simple, measurable, and easy to communicate. And yet it is not for the faint of heart. It requires work, discipline, growth. It's liberating and yet challenging. It's a journey we are calling: Simplify=1+1+1 1- Choose one hour of worship (your style, your venue). For 3 weeks we'll talk about our process for discipleship and see where you are in the journey. It's a paradigm shift but also it's a Biblical realignment as we Simplify. Our prayers are with you as you make the necessary adjustments to Simplify = 1+1+1. It's another way of saying reach up, reach in, and reach out. It's who we are and what we were made to do. Comments[0]

Tue, 2 September 2008 Our nation is consumed with presidential politics. Who is right for our country? Which candidate best reflects our values? Who has the right plan to make the necessary changes for our economy, the environment, homeland security, and domestic and foreign policies? Does any candidate have anything to offer beside the typical rhetoric of the political season? Do any of the candidates have more to offer than merely words of inspiration? What would happen if Jesus were running for President? Is it possible that the right wing moral majority got it wrong? Did they get anything right? What would Jesus say about our environment? What is the economic plan of Jesus? What does Jesus have to say about homeland security? Domestic and foreign policy? Does Jesus have anything to say to the United States? Is it even about us at all? Comments[0]

Mon, 31 March 2008 Sorry! No really...Sorry! Please accept our Apologies... Unfortunately, while "the church" has done many great things throughout history...it has also done some terrible things. Many religious individuals, believing they were right, have been horribly wrong in their approach and communication of sharing who Jesus really is. As a result, most people (in fact over 85% of our community) want nothing to do with church or God - which is understandable! This Sunday we are going to shed light on those things that have actually hurt (not helped) people. Not only are we looking into what has been out of line with the love that Jesus is really about...we are going to apologize, REALLY! Don't miss what is perhaps, the most controversial sermon The Family Church has ever been a part of. Comments[0]
Fri, 28 March 2008 Join us for Easter Sunday - Breaking Free, the real Easter Story. The Family Church is a safe place. You will be among real people, people who don't know it all or have it all figured out. We are a diverse people with different backgrounds through economics, politics, and even religion; but we are similar in the fact that we have been prisoners of our past, enslaved in destructive habits. God came to set us free. He has broken the chains and set the captives free. That's what Easter is all about. Breaking Free. Easter is a special day - it's the day we celebrate the freedom that is found through the love of God and the gift of His Son, Jesus. We have been set free from the prison of our life. Easter is not about a religious holiday or the Easter bunny. Easter is about freedom, fulfillment, and forgiveness. Comments[0]

How did we do that? By making sure there's room for everyone. In the last year, 400 new people have begun attending - maybe you're one of them. We've done our best to welcome everyone and we want to be able to continue to do so in the the future - that is our Master Plan.Beginning October 28, we will introduce our church to Master Plan, Second Seating. Please begin praying now about what Our Great God would have you and your family do to support The Master Plan. Please join us on this continuing journey of faith. Your continued faithfulness will allow us to reach more people and love more people than ever before. Comments[0]

Healthy food is in… the junk food is out, but it's still fun! Seems like many are reading the labels and wising up to eating right while others ignore the warnings signs and ruin their bodies with the fad foods.

I’m telling you – this was one of the best days in our church history, period.
Bridge to Somewhere
He's been called the man upstairs...the good Lord...and He's been asked to damn things...Why do people use His name so flippantly? Is the person of God - whatever you call him, a trivial being? Who is He really? Can He be understood? Can we really get to know Him? What does He have to do with our everday lives?
Our nation is consumed with presidential politics.
There is no doubt that we have much to be certain of in this life. We can be certain of death, it's coming...taxes, every year...more traffic in Atlanta...yes, there is much to be certain of. The one thing we can be sure that will never change is a God who loves us and cares for us in ways we could never imagine. Join us as we journey through Colossians together over the next few weeks...and take it to the Bank!
Everyone experiences times when faith is running low - faith in yourself, faith in others, or even faith in God. WWF, the series takes an insightful look at how you can grow in faith and become a more positive, confident person in every area of your life. How do you respond when your back is against the wall? Learn how to conquer doubt, anxiety and fear with more than just positive thinking - experience the power of faith. Join Pastor Chuck in this study of the New Testament book of 1st John, we will find that God has an answer for our daily issues.
